It’s been a crazy year. We finally got moved into the new house and new studio, I’ve somehow kept up with creating new work for exhibits and galleries, and I’ve gotten more familiar with the East Tennessee art scene.
I know I’ve shared images of my new studio and the amazing view I have. I’ve been here for 6 months and still can’t get over the fact I get to live and work here. I’m so grateful for all I have. As with anything we have had a fair amount of setbacks with the house. It never fails with new construction you’ll deal with things. Luckily we have about got things in order. Still waiting for grass to grow though:)
The new studio is working out as I hoped. I have a warm comfortable place to make my messes. My shop area is going to be a work in progress for a while. I have ideas for how I want it to work, but it will take me some time to build it. The great thing is, I can do it at my own pace.
Current plans for 2025
Last time I wrote about the Big Tiny Art Show at The District Gallery and that I won a 6 month gallery contract. I’m excited to see how this new partnership goes. I’ve heard so many great things about the owners, employees, and the artist associated with the gallery. Should be a fun experience.
2024 ended up being a great year of sales. The Copper Fox Gallery in Leipers Fork sold several paointings in December. In fact, December ended up being my best month. If you’re in the Nashville/ Middle TN area, make sure and drop by the gallery. They have the coolest space with a large selection of craft and fine art. I’ll be keeping them stocked up on new work in 2025.
Along with The Copper Fox, I enjoyed being at both Artclectic and Artsclamation. Each event does a great job bringing in new and return patrons. My participation in these shows for 2025 is still unknown right now. I’ve been planning to take some time to just create. I feel the need to push my medium, take some risk, and try some new things. It’s hard to generate enough work for these type exhibits when you’re not sticking with familiar subjects/techniques. I’m take some time this winter and think that through. Stay tuned.
YouTube videos and Workshop Videos in the works.
I’m way behind on posting YouTube videos. I have a lot of content, I just need to sit and edit some things. At some point I think I’m going to go back to just recording short clips of the process and post right from my phone. Editing isn’t something I’m quick at doing. My hope is that I can spend a few datys and get in a rhythm and put together a lot of videos that I can share over a period of time.
I’m also working on a new idea of creating an online workshop that will include an option of a kit. (see video here) I did this during the pandemic. I put together a small package of things needed to create two small paintings and mailed them out. In the kit was a link to my YouTube instructions and we also met over Zoom to discuss some of the details of the process. The new version of this would include some larger panels with beeswax. If this is something you think you’d like to participate in, please send me a note. If I get a lot of request I’ll do it sooner than later.
That’s all for now.
I want to wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season! I’ll be back soon with updates and happenings. thanks again for following along! RLP
