Hope at a Crossroads

Summer Updates from the Studio

It’s definitely summer in Tennessee, and these scorching temperatures have me tempted to stay inside and focus solely on painting. Unfortunately—or fortunately, depending on how you look at it—I’ve had several other projects and excursions on the calendar.

As you may have noticed, I’ve stepped back from updating my social media and blog recently. I tend to go through creative cycles, and right now I’m in more of a reflective, behind-the-scenes phase. I’m not quite ready to share all my recent photos and videos just yet—but I will soon.

Over the past few weeks, my main focus has been reorganizing my studio and getting my materials in order. A more efficient workspace makes a huge difference in my process. I’ve also completed a few new paintings since my last series in April.

Most recently, I created three new architectural pieces for Kore Gallery in Louisville. I’ve been wanting to develop work with a stronger Louisville connection, and these new pieces highlight some of the city’s iconic spaces. They also reflect how rapidly urban landscapes can shift—something I continue to explore in my work.

Another exciting project I’m involved with is the Multi-Cultural Fine Art Camp (MFAC) here in the Knoxville area. I’ll be teaching young students about my painting process and guiding them through hands-on activities. While I’ve taught classes before, this is my first time working specifically with children in this way. I’ll share a photo of the composition we’ll be creating soon, and after the camp wraps on July 25, I’ll post an update on how it went.
Before the camp, Tracy and I are heading to Rocky Mountain National Park for a bit of hiking and a change of scenery. We’ve spent a lot of time on trails in the Smokies, but this will be something entirely new. Our trip will end on a high note with an Eric Church concert at Red Rocks—the real reason we’re headed to Colorado!
That’s most of what I’ve been up to lately. I have a few projects in the works for the fall, but I’m holding off on sharing details until everything is finalized.
If you’d like to stay updated, I encourage you to join my email list. You can add your email at the bottom of my home page. I’ll be using it as my primary way of sharing news and updates moving forward.
Thanks so much for reading and for following along on this journey.
