Big Tiny Show

It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting season! I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of The Big Tiny Show at The District Gallery in Knoxville. The opening reception is Friday, November 14th, and the show will feature artists from all over. I’ll have a couple of my Honeytone guitar paintings included — pieces that continue to connect music, memory, and craftsmanship in the way I love exploring through encaustic and ink. I’m especially looking forward to seeing which of my friends are also in the show. I heard Mr. Hooper from Nashville, will have work there. It’s always a joy to catch up and share the walls with artists whose work I admire.

While preparing for this event, I’m also hard at work on a new series of Knoxville architecture paintings for a January exhibition at The District. These pieces are evolving nicely, and I’m excited to see how they come together as a collection that celebrates the structures and spirit of East Tennessee.

Detail of recent painting.

On a personal note, Tracy and I recently hiked 13.5 miles in the Smokies, from Kuwohi to Elkmont along the Goshen Prong Trail. The trail was blanketed with fall colors, and the sound of the river and waterfalls along the way made it one of those days that refills your creative energy.

I also want to give a special mention to my friend, Mike Mitchel, the creator of the “Drawing South” podcast. He recently began writing about each artist who has appeared on the show, and reading his words about my work and community practice meant a lot. I’ve been fortunate to be on his podcast three times, and what makes it so special is that it’s not just about art — it’s about the life of being an artist: the balance between creativity, family, and community. It’s a genuine conversation among friends who want to see each other succeed.

Before I wrap up, a quick callout for the Mystery Art League — our immersive art-and-puzzle experience. If you’re on Instagram, I’d love for you to follow along at @mysteryartleague. We’re continuing to grow, and your support helps more people discover this creative adventure that blends art, story, and mystery.

Thanks, as always, for following along. There’s plenty more to come as we move into the new year.
